KHIRKI

Khirki ist ein Metal-Trio aus Athen, Griechenland. Der Name leitet sich von der legendären Zauberin Circe (Κίρκη, ausgesprochen [kírkɛː]) aus Homers Odyssee ab. Für ihren unverwechselbaren Sound verbindet die Band riffbasierten Metal und Hard Rock, inspiriert von Bands wie Mastodon, Opeth, Tool und Kvelertak, mit griechischer und anatolischer Volksmusik.

Im Jahr 2021 veröffentlichten sie ihr selbst produziertes, von der Kritik gefeiertes Debütalbum mit dem Titel „Κτηνωδία“, was zu einem Vertrag mit dem Plattenlabel Venerate Industries führte, das das Album im selben Jahr erneut veröffentlichte. Das Album erhielt 9/10 vom Metal Hammer GR Magazin, wurde im Rock-Hard DE Magazin als „Tip of the Month“ vorgestellt und steht derzeit auf Platz #50 der Liste „Top 100 Stoner Metal Albums of All-Time“ auf metalstorm.net.

Im Jahr 2024 veröffentlichten sie ihr zweites Album mit dem Titel „Κυκεώνας“, auf dem die Band ihren Sound und ihre Produktion weiterentwickelte, indem sie kräftigere Töne, eingängigere Refrains und gewagtere Instrumentierung hinzufügten. Das Album wurde auch von der internationalen Presse sehr gut aufgenommen, erhielt eine 10/10-Bewertung bei Rock-Hard DE und wurde von Bandcamp Daily als unverzichtbare Veröffentlichung vorgestellt. Seit ihrer Gründung hat sich die Band auf der Bühne einen starken Ruf aufgebaut, spielt neben Schwergewichten wie Paradise Lost, Kreator, Fu Manchu, Rotting Christ und Villagers of Ioannina City und buchte mehrere erfolgreiche Tourneen und Festivals in ganz Europa.

Khirki is a metal trio from Athens, Greece. The name derives from the legendary sorceress Circe (Κίρκη pronounced [kírkɛː]) from Homer’s Odyssey. For their trademark sound, the band fuses riff-based metal and heavy rock, inspired by bands like Mastodon, Opeth, Tool and Kvelertak, with Greek and Anatolian folk music.

In 2021, they self-released their critically acclaimed debut album titled "Κτηνωδία", which led to signing to Venerate Industries Record Label that repressed the album the same year. The album received 9/10 from Metal Hammer GR magazine, was featured as "Tip of the Month" in Rock-Hard DE magazine and is currently positioned at #50 in the "Top 100 Stoner Metal Albums of All-Time" list in metalstorm.net.

In 2024, they released their sophomore album titled “Κυκεώνας” in which the band further developed their sound and production by adding beefier tones, catchier choruses, and daring instrumentation. The album was also very well received by the international press, scoring a 10/10 in Rock-Hard DE and was featured as an essential release by Bandcamp Daily. Since their inception, the band has built a strong reputation on stage, playing alongside heavyweight acts like Paradise Lost, Kreator, Fu Manchu, Rotting Christ, and Villagers of Ioannina City, and booking multiple successful tours and festivals across Europe.
